　たいへん専門的な書誌学の研究書。シェイクスピアリアンが現在、ふつうに使っているfoul papersとかpromptbooksとかいう言葉をW・W・グレッグやポラードまでさかのぼって成り立ちを問い、定義しなおすっていうとても重要なことをやっていて、大変いい本だと思うが、いかんせんあまりにも専門的すぎて全部理解するにはじっくり何度か読まないといけないだろうなぁという気が。
